We in my case no. I have two computer hooked to the internet on Cable. I had a Link Systems Router then feeding IP's to each computer and I use this system for about 2 years. This was so I could play Star Wars Galaxies and Worlds of Warfraft at the same time. Recently I started playing Rom2 again just for fun. I played on several different Hats including BBKings Christmas Hat. I decided to make up a Hat of my own. I have all the old GreenWorld Hat maps and files dating back to 2002. I was not able to make Hamachi work with my router so I took it out of the system. I am using a switch instead. I have both computers hooked into the switch and feeding the switch from the cable moden and getting two IP from the cable company. When I tried to use the Hamachi IP's in the Rom2 Hat files Rom2 would not work. It would just lock up Rom2 and stop functioning. I used the IP on the second machine in the Hat files and I could log into the Hat fine from either computer. I have not tired the Router instead of the switch. I may try that. What I have works. Do we really need to use Hamachi? Not in my case. Consider if you have a dynamic IP that changes all the time perhaps. My IP's don't change as long as the modem is up and running. I don't reset it very often. So the IP's should remain the same for a good long time. Lord Atton |

if the hat is behind a router there's no way to play the game therefore Hamachi is the solution, provided you have winxp as operation system furthermore gray fox's explanation and logic are flawless indeed :) |

yes rom2 alone does not know how to cope with router -- to say it simple it is why there is need of an other program like hamachi to intercept packets and forward them to and from proper ip address and rom2 work and you can communicate properly with hat and you are happy and when you are happy you play instead of complain if you are here to complain you are not happy -- my logic is flaw less |

Hamachi has a limited number of users in a server. 16 members... The only way to play is using it? |
