I don't have a duel core cpu but from a few years of watching people have problems on older games you can try setting process affinity when you run it do ctrl alt del and you should be able to set it to run on a single core there. There are other tricks out there but I haven't personally done them so not going to suggest anything else unless that doesn't work. btw if you reinstalled rom2 you did remember to set the exe files to 95 or 98 compatible right? I have to ask because its a stupid thing that I have forgotten before. |

that change the situation then you got a 64 bit cpu wonder is it dual or quad core? now i am the ignorant in the matter :-) have you the possibility to make rom2 explicitly run on one core only? i am sure you have settings some where to impose that behavior multi threaded programs want to run threads on separate cores -- when multi core cpu is present really it is the system that take care of it for you -- but you do not always want it to happen if games are not made to get advantage of multi core cpu then they must run all threads on one core only -- like they would with a p2 350 |

thanks for your extensive reply, much appreciated, although i understand only half of it but that's due to ignorance on my part ;) i've run several hats in the past (the last one 1 year ago), but never had these issues the hat runs fine on my P2-350 comp but that won't do for running multiple servers my main comp (amd 64 4000+) gets these errors so i decided to do a clean windows install hoping that this drastic measure will solve any corruption report here later today |

when click -games- button your rom2 perform search for active games your problem may be due to internet settings twice check your lan settings your fire wall if any windows fire wall if it is not disabled finally hamachi and configuration files some where you may find some thing out of order other wise it may be due to direct play component of direct x if you have windows xp service pack 2 installed you not only have bloated dot net 2.0 installed but direct x 9.0 too -- which come with direct play but is less forgiving and compatible with older direct play versions rom2 wants direct x 6.1 at least which means your system must be direct play 6.1 compatible -- or you do not internet play direct play is also responsible culprit for rom2 unable to by pass router -- every game relying on direct play is as that not only rom2 only win sock 2 api can freely by pass all router problems but win sock is part of system and not part of direct x as direct play microsoft knows and never fixed direct play problem instead microsoft ditched support for direct play and encourage to use win sock 2 hah -- guess? direct x 10 and future have no direct play component developers are forced to learn win sock 2 now |
