Right, lol, BB joined a stronger guild for playing high end levels. And my guild is merely for fun players who like to solo and now and than help each other. Over 30 members now, but we could use some fresh blood :)

That is ghe good news. The bad news is... Since I played Evony for 6 month with a female collaebue of mine, I'm thinking of allowing females only... ROAR!! They are more polite, nice and cozy in chat faithful companions :)

I'd like to marry her .... in my dreams.

Hey NOVA, this is the woman that you must like. Not only for her looks but also and more importantly for her mind. :)

Haha, if you plan to marry Morrigan, I'll have to find a way to stop your sobbing when you get back to GW lol!

I'll have a look at GW special events once I've finished my 2nd Dragon Age run through. I'm just before Landsmeet. This time with warrior, Shale, Morrigan and Wynne, all level 22. Unstoppable team LOL. Morrigan loves me but won't admit it haha.

BB, you are missing the Wintersday event with special winterquests... Still playing Dragon Age? I only have 1 level 11 chr there lol! So many different games to play =D

Haha, of course not. I added it to my F-list so I should see you online when you play on Europe English-1, when I'm on too. Although I'm not quite sure about Pre-Searing. We will see hehe.

That is great! Tell me when you can play, and what your playername is. Now it should be possible to add you on the friend list and chat online :)

Got the game today, albeit a replacement, that was dispatched last Monday. So that was quick.

Sometimes shipments arrive 1 month after the estimated date, if some customs officer intercepts the package to calculate import duties. Happened me once. Oh well, we just have to wait...

Still haven't received the game.
So I emailed the seller and he promised to send me a new game this week to compensate the loss.
Hmm, I have to wait and see.

Yeah, it sucks.
Shipping was confirmed Tuesday last week.
My experiences with Britain's Royal Mail is not too good. Shipping from US is much faster most of the time.
Nothing else I can do but wait.

Hey BB, 2 weeks ago you ordered GW, no shipping confirment yet? What did they say is the estimated delivery date?

Nice to see you around Fox. No we don't switch games: I play GW every now and than, for about 4 years now. It is an option, and a good one!

In october I will start a server with the final version of my Nwn mod, as planned. Still working on it. Added more rpg adventure, especially for the final levels. More about that later!

Good to hear from you fox! Hope you're doing well.
No, it's not because you were away for a little while that I switched games. I'm just curious to play a new online game. I haven't played NWN for a long time, but I will join back again when you start playing :) j/k.

Hm hm.
I stay away for a little, and people switch game.

Bad bad bad.

I have to stay away a little more.

I will come back when I can.

Oh, chr. levels don't matter to me. I can add low level chr's or maxed chr's depending on what we want. I think its best to mess around a bit and get you some skills, do some quests. Than run to 'higher' level villages to set a waypoint there. Since you have all content, its a huge world to explore...

I found the wiki you mentioned, but what is the other wiki?
Yes, a guild even with only 2 active players is still a guild with all the advantages haha.
I've ran out of playing time LOL, so I have time to plan ahead.
What kind of character at which level you like to form a party with?

Yes, the wiki is quite helpful. In fact there are 2 wiki's around. Here is a page from 1 of them, a little checklist for pre-searing:

http://guildwars.wikia.com/wiki/Pre-Searing_checklist

The belt pouch adds a small 5 items pouch to your inventory. You will be able to buy more storage room later. Including a chest to share with your other chr's.

The tapestry, well the wiki explains it. Many players complained when Eye of the North had this quest and they did not have the tapestry lol! But it can be skipped. Your choice.

BTW, as it looks now (but maybe it will be better after summer hollidays), we will be the only 2 active players in your guild lol. 3 Others played during the last 2 weeks. The rest did not play for months... Oh well. For me most important is to have a place to meet with many shops around. Not gonna compete with guilds that have 300 or more members lol!

Oh, yeah there are a lot of things I must get myself familiar with. Playing free trial my inventory is limited to 20 items. But what items for collectors should I look for? And what does the Tapestry Shred?
Btw, I find the GW wiki very helpful.

I found out yesterday that I'm supposed to do the healing indeed.
With so few minutes left to play I better wait for my own games so that I can communicate with people and make a different start and advance to the "real" game quickly.
I'm thinking of making a warrior first. Hope I get the game soon, maybe next weekend.

Haha, a monk! That means you will get a lot of requests to assist in missions... But only because players expect monks to heal the party, and do nothing else but staying back and heal lol! My main chr. is a monk too, but I am a smiter monk. For fighting! Not much appreciated in player parties...

Seems you are in the newbie start area called Pre-Searing. Where everthing looks beautiful. There are a few things you need to do there. To continue to the 'real' game you need to choose a 2nd profession. Once that is done you can enter the accadamy (Ascalon) for a fighting mission. That is a team vs team mission. The outcome is not important here. Once done and having talked to the propper person you will be in the 'real' game...

Before getting there I advise you to gather items for collectors and get a belt pouch. Also find a Tapestry Shred from Gwen. Have fun! I'll meet you in the aftermath hehehe!

It says chatting is only available when having a CD-key or something like that.
And Pre-Searing? Don't know what exactly that is :).
I did some quests outside, went to the Catacombs for instance.
I'm a monk, level 5 now, with 50 minutes left LOL.
But I found out that a monk in GW is completely different from a monk in NWN.

You can always chat (if you still have time left).

-Click on the chat button bottom left, and talk to everyone, your guild members, shops, etc.
-or: Open the chat channel (same way as above) and double click on a person for a private message.
-or: Add names to your F-list, and double click on them once they are online.

Just curious, but did you leave the little starting paradise yet? I mean Pre-searing, where everything is lovely and sweet hehehe...

A free trial is nice but has its limitations ofcourse. Only 10 hours gameplay and no chat!?
So I better wait till I have the games.
Btw, I played in America-English (didn't know there was a Europe district). Lots of players there. In Europe only one LOL.

Lol, I think they mean the world of Tyria, but every campaign adds a new part of that world.

I am not sure if you already can join a guild or have to wait for the official cd keys. You can try to find me online: Press N to add a friend and add: Rorthron the Wise (or Lorgrim the Bold) If you make a typemismatch the system will inform you that such chr does not exist. And adding one will add all chr.s of my account automatically (although you only see the one you add). So when I'm online you will see me if you press N. And be able to chat with me. That is, if you currently play Europe - English district. But I guess you do. (not sure, if it matters though, and its possible to switch districts)

So once we can chat I can invite you to the guild. Lol! I hope you will like it. Its a huge world to explore.

If you don't see me around you can leave your chr name here, so I can add it to my f-list. Should work.

I've ordered the game.
I read on the site that "all characters live in one seamless world". Then, what's the use of having all core games plus the expansion? Just for adding extra features?
I'm level 4 now and 2 hours of gameplay remaining lol. To continue after that I have to provide a CD-key.
And where do I find your guild?

I'm thinking of buying Guild Wars Complete Collection new for about 30 British Pounds (35 euros) from UK Amazon.com, which includes the Eye of the North. Good deal?
If I order it today I could have it next week, hopefully.

Prophecies -or any of the other 2 campaigns- is all you need to play and to become member of a guild.

As for buying campaigns or buying the expansion set Eye of the North (only if you already own 1 of the 3 'base' campaigns):

Since you already have downloaded the client you don't have to install those games again from cdrom. Just go to the logon screen and opt for: 'Create account or add a new key'.

Next you will be asked if you want to create a new account, or add the key to an excisitng account. If you want to use the chr. you now use choose 'add to excisting account'.

Note that in 99% of the cases you will want to add it to your existing accounts. Only than you have access with all your chr's to all new items/skills/maps of a newly added campaign.

The other option: -Create new account- will crreate a seperated account for every campaign. So with 3 campaigns you would have 3 accounts, each with chr's that can only access THAT particular campaign. So no sharing skills, items, whatever. But more chr's slots and inventory slots. Anyway, I advise you NOT to use this, but instead always add a new cd key to an excisiting account.

Am I right that the free quests start in Prophecie's 'Pre-searing'? In that case you can only use your excisting chr. in Prophecies, because its created in Prophecies and therefore needs a prophecies cdkey to continue playing (but once you have done so, it can be upgraded to other campaigns as well).

I would still advice either to begin with Nightfall or to include Eye of the North (the expansion), simply because only than you can add your own heroes to your party, instead of pre-fabriced henchmen. Makes a big deal of difference later in the game when you can add skill combo's to your heroes (which you cannot do with henchmen).

And the price... Ok its credit crisis hahaha! I've spend more money than ever during summer hollidays lol. But all campaigns including Eye of the north will cost about the same as 1 single campaign 5 years ago... That is in a Dutch shop (like Dynabyte) Let me know what you plan to do.

Thanks for the info!
I installed the trial game and played the first couple of quests.
Ofcourse I have to get used to all different stuff, but it looks good.
However it isn't as cheap as you make believe. Certainly not as cheap as NWN.
Anyway, I understand that just Prophecies is needed to play on your guild? The expansion Eye of the North is a bonus?
And there is no Single Player?

Basically you need 1 of the 3 core games to play:
-Prophecies; this was the first game
-Factions; the second game
-Nightfall; the 3th and last game.

The general idea of GW was to bring 1 new game every 6 months. Games are compatible with each other. If a player buys a new game he/she can add this game to an excisting game, and continue playing with older chr's. Or choose to create a completely new game, but than older chr's of a former game cannot join there.

A fourth game was scheduled but canceled and changed into an expansion: Eye of the North. Eye of the North can only be added to one of the 3 excisting games.

Personally I find that Nightfall offers most freedom in adventuring. This campaign also unlocks sets of heroes to join your party. Heroes can be adjusted with your own gear and skills. (there are also henchmen, for free, but they are 'as is' and cannot be adjusted).

My second choice would be Prophecies. Also much freedom in movement.
Factions is very linear: locked gates which only open after doing certain missions.

Eye of the North is meant for level 20 chr's. (= maxed). Very hard, but *much* more like an rpg than the core campaign. It also comse with a set of heroes (so if you have Prophecies of Factions -campaigns without heroes- you can still have heroes added to you party if you have Eye of the North). Although for level 20 chr's, you can enter Eye of the North at level 5, by doing a quest. Once you enter the Eye you become temporary level 20.

So you need one of the core games, and I advice to add Eye of the North, because it really adds so many (hight level) dungeons, and ways to improve your party (like temporary bonus skills, more hitpoints, scrolls to get rid of death penalty, and much more).

You need a legit key to start playing. It is useless to try to enter with 'fake' keys, and very risky to use 2nd hand keys (actually its forbidden to trade accounts). But the game is not expensive anymore.

You can also try it out by downloading the client and than add a free trial keay. I think that will bring you to the first campaign: Propecies. A link can be found here:

For curiosity's sake but you never know, what exactly do you need to play?
"One of the basic sets"? Plus what expansion?
And does it have to be legit?

Today I found myself suddenly promoted as guild leader of the guild: Miss Mistque. Originally a Dutch guild, but now international. That is, as far as there are members lol. Because the guild is as dead as a doornail. 4 Active members around, mostly at different times.

Well, I offered before to join in GW, so as LEADER of a guild, I invite you all once more to join :)
Game hardly costs a penny anymore and with one of the basic sets and the expansion set you will enjoy many hours of gameplay. And as a member of my guild you will find a fully equiped guildhall. A huge advantage for starting players: you don't have to search the country for goodies: all basic stuff is for sale there.

So come on and join!
