Brief
Program Description
Map Editing Tools - special utility for "Rage
of Mages 2: Necromancer", designed for use
together with Map Editor. Offers additional
options for quick creation of high-quality game
landscapes.

MAIN MENU
Main Menu
contains the following groups:
File, Edit, Tiles, Objects, Units, Help.
File - file
management
Command |
Description |
Open |
Open
existing map. This command allows to choose a map
file. Along with opening there is an automatic
error check. The map does not load into the
memory, so it can be freely changed without
reopening the file. |
Make rip
|
Save the map landscape. Command
allows to save the incomplete (ripped) map, just like in
Rage of Mages client maps. |
Exit |
Exit the
program. |
Edit - general map editing
Command

Description |
Undo |
Perform 1-level
undo. Cancels the latest command (only one) by
reposting data from *.bak file. Also available
after quitting the program and launching it again. |
Select All Map |
Select the
whole map. Selects the largest available for
editing range of the map and marks it as "Range". |
Verify Map
|
Perform map
verification. Searches and deletes incorrect
objects that are out of range or make Map Editor
crash. Verification can be launched manually, but
it is also performed when opening map files. |
Tiles - tools
for changing landscape
Command

Description

Place Terrain |
Fills in
the selected rectangle with the selected
landscape. Boundaries of the rectanlge are gived
by "Range", landscape (only one) is
selected in the list "Terrain". |
Place Special Tiles |
Places
special elements on the selected landscape (puddle,
snag) limited by the selected rectangle. It is
allowed to set more than one surface at once or
select the option "ALL" - in this
case all the available surfaces are being
placed: ñracks, water, grass, flowers. |
Generate
Landscape (not available in light edition)

It is
allowed to set more than one surface at once or
select the option "ALL". To select few
options press the keys <Shift> or <CTRL>
while moving the mouse. |
Slope |
Allows to
change the slope in directions: left-right, right-left,
up-down, down-up. |
Randomize
Altitude |
Resembles
the same function from Map Editor, but has the
expanded options. Randomly changes the altitude
of surface in the range of the selected rectangle.

Flatten
Roads (not available in light edition)

Make the
roads flat for more convenient gameplay. |
Objects - tools
for changing objects

Place
Objects |
Place the
objects with preset density. Places on the
selected landscape selected in the list "PLACE
/ CHANGE TO:" objects in the range of the
selected rectangle. The density is set in menu
"Density". There is no check on
placement objects on the same cell with units and
buildings. This is the reason not to use this
option when editing the already existing maps. |
Remove
Objects |
Removes
selected in the list "REMOVE / CHANGE FROM:"
objects in the range of the selected rectangle. |
Change
Objects |
Changes
selected in the list "REMOVE / CHANGE FROM:"
(on the left) objects to objects selected in list
"PLACE / CHANGE TO:" (on the right) in
the range of the selected rectangle. Since the
change is made by random choice from the selected
variants, the numbers of objects to the left and
to the right are not required to be equal. |
Kill
Duplicate Objects |
If there
are the same objects on two neighboring
horizontal cells - one of them will be deleted.
The function aplies to the whole map. |
Kill
Overlaps |
Delete
overlapping objects. If a cell occupied by a unit
is also occupied by an object, it will be deleted. The
function aplies to the whole map. Overlaps with
units that use more that one cell may not be
processed. |
Decorate -Beach
-Mountains
-Custom

Decorate
the beach/mountains/custom landscape. Places
ivies along the beach, pine trees around
mountains or custom trees that are selected in
list "PLACE / CHANGE TO:" around the
selected custom landscape with the preset density.
Option is not available if there are no places on
the map with the chosen landscape. There is no check
on placement objects on the same cell with units
and buildings. This is the reason not to use this
option when editing the already existing maps. |
Generate
Forest -Human
-Druid
-Tropic
-Custom

Place forest
with the preset density in the selected range of
a map. It is allowed to set more than one types
of surfaces at once (in this case the transition
parts between different types are not processed)
or select the line "ALL" (all the
surfaces and transitions between them, besides
roads and the impossible to cross places: water
and mountains, are processed). You can choose
from already existing forests (human, druid,
tropic) or make it yourself (custom). There is no
check on placement objects on the same cell with
units and buildings. This is the reason not to
use this option when editing the already existing
maps. |
Units - tools for changing units on
the map
Command |
Description |
Find Max
Group |
Show the
number of groups (number of the last group) of
units on the map. This option is useful when
placing the monsters, to get the unoccupied
numbers of groups. |
Remove All
Units |
Remove all
units on the map. |
Change
Level -Up
-Down
|
Changes
level of monsters, that are situated in the range
of selected rectangle, up or down in the range
from 1 to 4. Option is not available for NPC,
human units and monsters of 5th level. |
